Impact

BeaCoPure exists to do two things at once: make excellent coconut oil, and make it in a way that changes who benefits from Ghana's coconuts. We equip single mothers and youth in rural Volta Region communities with skills in coconut oil production and in communication, and we support sustainable, locally sourced production.

Why local processing matters

Ghana holds Africa's largest coconut cultivation base, yet most of the crop still leaves as whole, unprocessed nuts, and the value leaves with it. The country's own policy direction points the other way: process at home, add the value at home, keep the jobs at home. We are a working example of that idea. Every jar pressed in the Volta Region is value that stayed.

A circular press

Local processing is also how we treat the nut itself. We use the byproducts of pressing in energy production, and we supply them to other companies that need them as inputs. The oil becomes cooking oil, hair care, and bulk supply. What remains goes on to another use. That is the environmental side of the same idea: keep the value of the coconut in Ghana, and waste less of it.

Skills first

Our training pairs the practical with the portable. Coconut oil production is the trade; communication is the skill that travels with a person into any work they choose next. We train both, because a business that only teaches people to serve it is not the business we set out to build.

Who stands with us

BeaCoPure is supported by the Mastercard Foundation FAST program, and we are a supported SME within the Nkabom Collaborative, the ten year partnership between McGill University, the Mastercard Foundation, six Ghanaian universities, and the Association of Ghana Industries focused on Ghana's agri-food sector. Their backing is university and foundation backing, and it holds us to the mission we pitched them.
